DIVINE MERCY SHELTER LEGAL AID CENTER

The foundation helps the poor seek justice and take the cudgels in rendering legal advice to the weak and the oppressed to protect their legal rights. This program in coordination with other organizations joins the fight against human rights abuses and corruption in the government.

The foundation’s Senior Legal Consultants are the following:

The Divine Mercy Shelter and Development foundation believes that one of the most potent remedies in the fight against extreme poverty is the education of the youth. In this regard, the foundation is giving scholarship for those poor families who cannot afford to send their children to school.

The foundation also believes in the youth as the treasure and future of the nation. In view of the foregoing, the Divine Mercy Shelter and Development Foundation Inc. also organized a program entitled BIBLE FOR CHILDREN PROGRAM. It is our ardent desire that as the program unfolds the love of God to them and with the lessons they will learn can help them be guided to choose the right path towards a better future and be a blessing to their parents and in our country as a whole. We believe in the idea that if we guide the youth and bring them closer to the Almighty God we can also change the future of the entire nation.

MESSAGE

The Management and Staff of the Divine Mercy Shelter and Development Foundation Inc. is deeply honored and proud to present our two new awardees for our Scholarship Program for the year 2010-2011. Out of the seven applicants, these two newly graduates, Rhaynel Samar Sillador and Katherine P. Gidoc were selected because of their academic excellence and determination to pursue their studies.

Again we would like to congratulate Katherine and Rhaynel for flying high in the sky against all odds and may you touch several lives as you pass by and travel towards the kingdom of the Almighty. There will be several dogs that will bark on every sides of your way but ignore them for the way is long and you must hurry for your destiny awaits you.

May the Angels of the Almighty God hold you in their hands and protect and guide you always!

KATRINA P. GIDOC graduated from the Republic Institute of Manila and dreams someday to be a Certified Public Accountant. She graduated top of her class with several Excellence Awards such as Excellence in Physics, Excellence in Mathematics, Excellence in Computer Studies, Excellence in MAPEH, Excellence in T.L.E and is a Loyalty Awardee of the same school. Her General Average is 85.4%. She is now admitted by the prestigious University of Makati.

RHAYNEL SAMAR SILLADOR graduated from Manghanoy National High School, Province of Negros Occidental and dreams someday to be a Computer Engineer. He graduated with Honors. During their final examination her mother died but still under extreme pressure, Rhaynel managed to get a General Average of 88.25%. Rhaynel’s trait of “courage and stability under pressure” was noted by the foundation and the latter decides to admit him as one of the recipient of the Foundation Scholarship Program. He is now admitted by the prestigious University of Makati.

ENVIRONMENTAL AID PROGRAM

The foundation has a 2 hectare seed bank located at Teresa, Rizal. This project aims to help and contribute in the fight of mankind against Global Warming. Trees such as Narra, Acacia, Mahogany, Molave and many others are being planted which shall later on be ready for distribution and planting along the busy streets of Metro Manila and other strategic places. This seed bank is being handled by Melchor Gacutan who is also the owner of the real estate properties. Melchor had intensive studies in agriculture and fisheries from the University of the Philippines.

SOCIALIZED HOUSING AND LAND DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

Divine Mercy Shelter believes that the poor must have a decent housing for their families. The foundation aims to help the poor by educating them that they can avail of the Socialized Housing Programs of the government. A project was launch for the informal settlers of the Laperal Compound in Guadalupe, Makati and other poor families in Metro Manila. The said informal settlers in Guadalupe have formed a community association named GRACE. GRACE already suffered four fires that razed their shanties to the ashes. Last year alone GRACE suffered two big fires that made them decide that the time has come for their immediate relocation into a safer and decent living condition. With the help of a land owner, named Melchor Gacutan, a seven hectare property in Teresa, Rizal was allocated for the housing needs of GRACE and other low income families in Metro Manila. The foundation have just created a subsidiary and umbrella organization named Christian Federation for Socialized Housing Inc who will consolidate the resources of the foundation for a more effective approached to the fulfillment of this program. B. Lyn R. Belandres is the Program Director for this project. Lyn is a graduate of the Riverside College of Bacolod City where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology. She is also a former missionary in South Korea for 5 years.
